I’ve heard of it and even taken a look when it first came out, but not being a graphically-inclined person, I was like “meh”, I’ll stick to what I know. That was my stance until I recently needed to create a meal planner to help with the agony of wondering what’s for dinner every day. In my search for a tool that could help create one for me, I bumped into Canva again, and have been enjoying it since. It’s an online design tool that instantly transforms even the most basic computer user into a graphic design pro.
Besides the desktop version, there’s an app too which means I can create on the go! The interface is user-friendly and all features are within reach. Once logged in, there’s an option to create a design. This is the best option if you know what you want. But if you would like to browse through the various templates to get an idea of what you can create, there’s a wide range to choose from. That way, you’re not starting from scratch.
I like how easy it is to customize the templates to your needs. The left side panel has a menu from which you can easily adjust the background, add text, change fonts and even upload media from your device to add to the design.
If you’re homeschooling and want to get your children started on using technology for their reports, this is a great starting point. As with many online tools, there’s both a free and a premium version. I’ve created flyers and even logos using the free version. However, for a more comprehensive experience or if you need the bells and whistles, the premium version allows you to unlock more templates and have more font options.
