Should You Bother with Fiverr to Make Money Online?

fiverr logoWhen I first started working from home, my main goal was to be able to help my husband with the bills and stay home with my children. To that end I did cold calling, appointment setting, transcription services — if I could earn an honest buck without having to travel far from home I was game.

That’s why I find it puzzling that despite the fact that there are lots of people trying hard to make money online, many of them screw up their noses at the idea of working on sites like Fiverr. This is the site that pays you $5 to complete simple tasks for whatever you feel like working on.

The idea behind it is that you create a Fiverr gig. In your gig you offer customers exactly what you’re willing to do for your five bucks. Be clear in your description about what you’re offering and it’s easier for the right customers to pay for your services. Another added bonus is that you don’t have to worry about chasing anyone down for your payment because Fiverr takes care of that before you begin your gig.

If you’ve done it the right way, you should find that it only takes you a few minutes to complete each task. That means you could be earning an extra $5 every few minutes.

Of course, if you do it the wrong way you could find that you’re only earning $5 an hour.

Is Fiverr Worth the Effort?

Think about this. If you completed one gig before dinner every night of the working week, you would have finished five gigs. That’s a total of $25 in your pocket you otherwise wouldn’t have had.For anyone looking for a bit of extra spending money, that’s not bad. This is especially true if you were smart about creating gigs that only take a short amount of time to complete.

Now, if you did the same one gig before dinner each night for a total of five gigs and you also added an additional five gigs on a Saturday morning, that’s a total of 10 gigs in a week.  That’s $50 you didn’t have in your pocket.

Of course, if you have more free time available you could always spend a few hours per day working on gigs. Let’s say you can complete 4 gigs in an hour and you only want to work 4 hours a day. That’s 16 gigs and a total earning of $80 per day. Over a five day working week you would have earned $400 at the end of the week. That’s not bad for only working 4 hours a day.

The whole point of these calculations is to show you that the effort you put into Fiverr is directly related to how worthwhile you find it. If you’re after some extra pocket money, it’s a quick and easy way to make money.

If you’re after a way to make a full time income online, it certainly can be done. Remember, the calculations we looked at here didn’t take into account repeat orders or the highly-profitable gig extras you can charge.

So before you give up on Fiver as a way to make money online, think again. There’s a huge amount of potential here – but only if you’re willing to jump in and give it a shot. So what are you waiting for — jump in and see if Fiverr is right for you.
